Before looking at its advantages, let’s see how you can get a Swiss Travel pass for yourself.

Variations of the Swiss Travel Pass

The Swiss Travel Pass is available in various avatars. Depending on the length of your holiday and the places you are traveling to, you can get a travel pass that fits your needs perfectly. There are two main variations; Swiss Travel Pass and Swiss Travel Pass Flexi.

Swiss Travel Pass

The regular Swiss Travel Pass allows you 3, 4, 8, or 15 days of unlimited, consecutive travel on a single pass. It is perfect for packed itineraries that pack in a lot of sightseeing. But it is a time-based travel pass. If you buy a pass for three days but do not travel for three consecutive days, the pass will lapse on the fourth day. Prices range between CHF 232 to CHF 513 for second-class travel. However, if you want to travel first class, the prices vary between CHF 369 to CHF 810 based on the duration of the pass.

Swiss Travel Pass Flex

This other variant of the Swiss Travel Pass is valid for one month. You can travel for any 3, 4, 8, or 15 days of days within that month. They can be consecutive or non-consecutive days as this is a use-based travel pass. When you buy a four-day pass, you can travel with it for four days in the month. It will stop working after the fourth use. You pay anywhere between CHF

267 to CHF513 for a second-class pass, while the first-class travel pass will set you back by CHF 424 to CHF 890 based on a number of uses.

There are three more variations of the Swiss Travel Pass that are specially created for young people. In Switzerland, travel is free for children below 6 years of age. Children between 6 and 16 years of age can also travel for free, but they will need a Swiss Family Card.

Swiss Family Card

The Swiss Family Card is free and is available on request at all ticket counters. However, the child must be accompanied by at least one parent who holds a valid Swiss Travel Pass or ticket. However, if children between 6 and 16 years are not accompanied by their parents, they must buy a ticket. But they get a 50% discount on all tickets they buy.

Swiss Travel Pass Youth

The Swiss Travel Pass Youth is meant for young people between 16 and 26 years of age. They can buy this pass at a 15% discount on the full Swiss Travel Pass price. It offers the same 3, 4, 8, or 15 days of consecutive travel at lower prices. A second-class pass ranges in price between CHF 198 to CHF 439 and the first-class pass costs between CHF 315 and CHF 692. They also get all the benefits available with the full-fledged Swiss Travel Pass.

Swiss Travel Pass Flex Youth

The cost of a second-class pass ranges between CHF 228 to CHF 481 while that of a first-class pass hovers between CHF 362 and CHF 760. It offers all the additional benefits that a full-blown Swiss Travel Pass offers.
