Your Andaman Water Sports Bucket List

Andaman is famous for its sun, sand, and clear blue waters. Just like most islands around the globe, this group of islands has world-class water sports facilities. These range from sea walks to boat rides.

Here are some things to do in Andaman to quench your thirst for water sports.

  1. Scuba Diving

Dive in to meet the fish and corals of the Andaman region. The cool blue water around the islands makes it perfect for diving. Whether you are a beginner or have been diving for a while, the colorful and vibrant marine life here is sure to leave you spellbound. The best time for scuba diving in Andaman is during the months of December and April. Places that are good for diving include Cinque Island, Rutland Island, Passage Island, the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park, and others.

  1. Sea Walk

If walking along the sea shore is magical, how about a walk under the sea? You will get a lovely view of the marine life at around 7ft underwater. This facility can be experienced only at North Bay Beach located near Port Blair and Elephant Beach at Havelock Island.

  1. Snorkeling

If you do not want to swim too deep on your Andaman trip, you could opt for snorkeling. Snorkeling equipment, as well as courses, are offered at the Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex, the North Bay Beach, Havelock Island, and others.

  1. Jet Ski

One of the most thrilling things to do on the island, jet skiing has many takers. You will find many tour operators offering services for the same. So get ready to cut across the sea as you go zooming on your jet ski.

  1. Boat rides

In Andaman, some places like the Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex offer joy rides on speed boats, kayaks, and banana rides. You may even get a good look at the marine life that is responsible for the popularity of Andaman tourism while staying dry throughout the glass bottom boat ride.

Things to keep in mind while indulging in water sports

  • Do not swim under the influence of drugs or alcohol
  • Avoid swimming if you have an open wound. Predatory fish tend to get attracted by the smell of blood.
  • Also, avoid bright clothes or shiny jewelry as they tend to resemble the fins of small fish and may attract predatory fishes
  • Do not dangle your hands or feet in the water during boat rides
  • Always swim/go diving in the locations that are allotted for those purposes
  • Avoid swimming at night

If you are visiting the islands especially for its water sports, make sure that it is included in your Andaman tour packages. So get ready to hit the high seas on your holiday.
