A Perfect Guide to Island Hopping in Andaman

One of the prettiest union territories of India, Andaman and Nicobar Islands is a breathtaking archipelago nestled snugly in the Bay of Bengal. The exotic beaches blessed with coral reefs and stunning marine life make it a dream holiday destination for many enthusiastic travellers.

Out of the 572 islands that comprise of Andaman and Nicobar, only 38 are inhabited; out of which very few are accessible in Andaman, while Nicobar is out of bounds for travellers.

The stunning Andaman Islands are an empyrean for both nature lovers and adrenaline junkies alike. While there is so much to see and do, the best way of exploring the stunning Andaman Islands is to go island hopping.

Here are some of the island you should explore on your Andaman tour packages:

Port Blair: The capital town of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Port Blair is one of the best islands that dot the shores.  The feather on the cap of Andaman tourism, Port Blair has many interesting sights to look for. It boasts of great museums, cellular jail, historically significant monuments and great water sports. Port Blair is one of the best places to visit in Andaman.

Havelock Island: Havelock Island is a picturesque natural paradise with beautiful white sandy beaches, rich coral reefs and lush green forests. The island has some amazing beaches to explore including the Radhanagar Beach which was voted as the best beach in Asia by TIME magazine.

Ross Islands: For the history buff, a trip to Ross Island is a must. The island was the headquarters of the British colony and today it houses beautiful ruins of the British buildings. Besides these ruins, the other attractions of Ross Island include the Chief Commissioner’s house, Cathedral, and British cemetery. The charming island is home to some exotic bird species, flora and fauna.

Neil Islands: Relatively lesser-known Neil Island boasts of some exquisite beaches with smooth white sands. It has still managed to retain its rustic and unspoilt beauty in the midst of frequent tourist influx in the region. Beaches like Sitapur Beach, Ramnagar Beach or Bharatpur Beach are stunning, offering great sunset views in absolute peace and privacy. There are excellent water sports options at Neil Island. You can dive or snorkel amidst beautiful coral reefs and exotic breeds of water life.

Long Island: Completely off the tourist grid is the charming Long Island. With very few visitors wanting to visit these islands, you can barely see any vehicles on the island. There are scenic trekking routes through dense forest paths on this beautiful island. The most famous beach here is Lallaji Bay, which is accessible by a walk through a jungle path or by a boat ride. Long Island truly offers you a serene and exclusive holiday experience in the lap of nature.

Baratang Island: There is more to the Andaman Islands than the beaches and Baratang Island is one of them. Known for its excellent rock formations and caves, is one of the best places to visit as these archaeological wonders known as Baratang Limestone Caves are a treat to watch.
