Trek in the Valley of Flowers in your next Uttarakhand tour

Hidden away in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, this rare Himalayan beauty is Mother Nature’s gift to India covered with alpine flowers and diverse fauna.

After painting this tiny yet captivating picture, wouldn’t you want to trek through this valley too? Wouldn’t you be curious as to what is it that’s so extraordinary about the Valley of Flowers that one should only explore it with their two feet? Today we will give you a few reasons and routes and tell you why trekking through the Valley of flowers is one of the many things to do in Uttarakhand whilst taking a trip to Uttarakhand.

Located at a height of 3659 metres in the Bhyunadar Valley, the Valley of Flowers stretches over 80+ kms. It is also known as the second core zone of the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve blessed with gorgeous waterfalls, snow glaciers in winters and thick blooming flowers from the month of June till October. Sounds magical, doesn’t it? This gift of nature bestowed upon the state of Uttarakhand, is home to 500 species of wild flowers, each one of them different from another.

Now that we have stated reasons to travel to Chamoli and explore the Valley of flowers, here’s the most recommended itinerary you can follow whilst planning:

Day 1 – Drive from Haridwar to Joshimath (10 Hours by Road)
Leave from Haridwar early morning. After about a drive for 10 hours through the gorgeous narrow passes to Joshimath, relax and stay there for the night.

Day 2 – Trek from Govind Ghat to Ghangria
Kickstart your day with a light-on-a-stomach breakfast and begin your climb to the scenic trails of Ghangria. The climb shouldn’t last more than 3-4 hours. Relax after reaching Ghangria and give your body some rest for the day; stay overnight in a hotel.

Day 3 – Trek from Ghangria – Valley of Flowers – Ghangria
After grabbing in breakfast, you can start off the trek to the fascinating Valley of Flowers which is about 3kms away. Soak in the beauty of the valley and the riot of colours. Spot some of the most unique flora, fauna and a variety of insect species close by and finally start trekking back to Ghangria; stay in a hotel for the night.

Day 4 – Ghangria- Govindghat – Joshimath
Start trekking back to the 10 kms distance of Govindghat as soon you’re done with breakfast and then drive back to Joshimath and relax for the night.

Day 5 – Joshimath – Haridwar
Retrace your route back to Haridwar post breakfast and end your holiday on a high note.
