7 Harry Potter Locations You Must Visit in Europe

Harry Potter (the story of a young orphan who finds out that he is a wizard) took the world by storm. These iconic books have been made into movies, and you may visit the locations for a great experience on your Europe trip.

  1. Alnwick Castle

The legendary Alnwick Castle has been portrayed as Hogwarts. Here you can explore the grounds where Harry first flew on a broomstick and the area where Ron and Harry crashed the Weasley’s Ford Anglia.

  1. The London Zoo

The London Zoo was featured in the first movie. In the Reptile House of the London Zoo, Harry talked to a snake and realized that he has magical powers after he accidentally traps his cousin in the Python’s enclosure.

  1. Warner Bros. Studio Tour

The Warner Bros. Studio in Leavesden has a special Harry Potter Tour that should be a part of all Europe tour packages. Here, you will see the different props, sets, and all the amazing things that were used in the Making of the Harry Potter. You may also have Butterbeer!

  1. Platform 9¾

While there are many things to do in Europe, if you are a “Potterhead,” the iconic platform at King’s Cross Station is a must visit. This is featured in every Harry Potter Movie, and there is even a half trolley lodged in the wall to commemorate the wall that young witches and wizards have to go through, to catch the Hogwarts Express. This castle has never appeared in the story of Harry Potter, but you can live your Harry Potter experience here! The College of Wizardry is a 4-day Live Action Role Play (LARP) that is organized at this 14th-century castle in Poland. You can take magical classes, get sorted into your house, compete for the house cup, and attend the welcome ball, meet with magical creatures, and so much more! If you are a Potterhead, this should be on the top of your list of places to visit in Europe.

  1. The Elephant House

This gourmet tea and coffee house became famous after J. K. Rowling shared that she penned parts of the Harry Potter story in this café. So visit this charming place to be a part of the history of Harry Potter and enjoy a steaming cup of coffee while you bask in the magic!

  1. The Jacobite Steam Train

Why not be transported to the world of Harry Potter? Literally! The Jacobite Steam Train is the original Hogwarts Express, and it will take you over the Glenfinnan viaduct in Scotland. This place was featured in the movies as the steaming engine train roared behind Ron and Harry as they tried to keep the Weasley’s car in control.
