Visiting Dubai for the first time? You will be astonished by how many parks and green areas there are to explore in the city. In fact, the majority of them are accessible for free or very low-cost and are quite family-friendly.
Let’s go over all of the popular parks and outdoor areas in Dubai, as well as their entry fees and the extra facilities available there for families.
Several of these parks are managed by Dubai Municipality, and a nominal cover charge is levied for their upkeep and maintenance. This is deducted from your RTA Nol card.
It’s natural to expect to see butterflies wherever there are flowers, so it’s no surprise that the Butterfly Garden Dubai sits just adjacent to the Dubai Miracle Garden. The Butterfly Garden Dubai is the largest covered butterfly garden in the world. It is a lovely habitat for many different types of these winged critters.
Did you know you may see butterflies from around the world here? Over 45 distinct types of butterflies flutter freely over ten modernly constructed domes that resemble rainforests. If you wish to understand more about these beautiful flies, the park provides a section where you can learn interesting information about them.
There is also a Kids Cinema where your family may enjoy children’s favourite Disney films while taking a break from touring. There is also a Souvenir Shop, Candy Shop, Cafe, etc., to make it a complete tour package in itself!
When the weather cools down in Dubai, the finest location to visit is the Dubai Miracle Garden, the world’s largest floral garden. Don’t miss out on this 72,000-square-metre floral paradise, open from December to April each year.
Various flower-themed attractions here, such as massive floral sculptures and massive flower fields, will delight your entire family. The big yet lovable gigantic teddy bear sculpture and the Floral Castle, where they can play princes and princesses, will entice your children to take photos.
Adults can enjoy a stroll around the lovely Sunflower Field or the charming Lake Park. When hungry, you can go to one of the Miracle Garden’s more than thirty cafes, food stalls and restaurants and eat till you are full. Adorable stalls also sell fruit juice, chocolates, and other beverages.
A journey to Dubai with the family would be incomplete without a visit to Magical Garden Dubai, the world’s largest unique theme park. If you thought Dubai’s parks and gardens just featured natural scenery, you should visit Magical Garden Dubai, which has a gorgeous glow-in-the-dark garden. The Garden Glow’s crowning beauty is the dazzling Glow Park, an artificial garden with a changing theme for each season. You’ll enter a world filled with hundreds of handmade, energy-saving lights fashioned from recycled cloth. We learned that this year’s theme is the wonderful realm under the sea. The eco-friendly Art Park is a miniature version of Dubai but is not as hot. If your children are Jurassic Period enthusiasts, they will like the Dinosaur Park’s moving dinosaurs and interactive Dinosaur Hub.
A stunning 52-acre park centred around a massive man-made pond. You may rent solar-powered or pedal boats, as well as bikes, pedal Go-Karts and e-scooters for fitness. There are two park sections for older children and babies, as well as plenty of grassy picnic places and a running track.

Dubai’s gorgeous new playground has gone from obscurity to local adoration. Kids can enjoy water play, climbing, enormous swings, pirate ships, and even visiting the veggie patch at Al Barari, which is known for its adventurous playground and casual setting. Parents enjoy the Hideout Lounge, where they can enjoy a beverage while their children play, and there are burgers, ice creams and shawarma available if they want to eat something. Pre-booking is required for this luxurious, close-to-the-nature play area, especially on weekends.
A unique blue and white striped water tower, centrally placed beside Dubai’s City Walk, is easy to spot in this urban park. For both younger and older children, there are two shaded play areas with slides, swings and climbing frames. When you visit, don’t forget to bring your lunch. Not only play, your children can also read and learn at the small children’s library here.
This long park appears beneath a 3.2km stretch of the Palm Monorail on the trunk of Palm Jumeirah. The park is an excellent walk for strollers and scooters, with playgrounds and water features and fitness equipment, stores, and cafes to stop at along the way. This location is also known as Palm Jumeirah Park.
Jumeirah 1 is another modest suburban hidden treasure right off Wasl Road. It is not large, but there is enough area for the kids to ride their scooters and bikes and play in the somewhat shaded playground.
This pleasant little park is located in a quiet suburban part of the city between Hessa Street and Al Sufouh Road and has two children’s play spaces. It’s geared towards younger children, although it also has a jogging track, sports courts, and a small coffee shop.
This is one of the city’s major outdoor spaces, located on the western bank of Dubai Creek, with plenty of added facilities and entertainment to enjoy. It’s a favourite picnic and barbecue spot, and it also has a big botanical garden, mini-golf, and a go-kart track. There are various playgrounds for youngsters scattered throughout the area. Check out the Dolphinarium and Children’s City, an edutainment and learning centre featuring a planetarium, for extras within the park. The Creek Cable Cars travel daily across the park in the winter (in summer, evenings only).
The Bay Avenue Park adds a splash of green to the most concrete jungle of the Business Bay Area, with two outdoor gyms, a skatepark, a trampoline area, and lots of grassy spaces to pull up a picnic mat, as well as essential playground equipment, mostly under shade.
Between clusters O and P, there is a nice tiny area of green for the Jumeirah Lake Towers community to discover among the urban jungle. There are three distinct shaded playground zones for various age groups, a giant spider web climbing structure and a zip line. There are plenty of grassy areas to relax, and in the cooler months, dining, music and open-air cinema are among the many entertainment options.
This sophisticated, multi-use park is located within Dubai Hills Estate and is one of the city’s most beautiful new community parks. It adds a pleasant splash of green to the suburbs with 1800 trees; free to all, you’ll find a vast range of play parks and sports courts to accommodate all age groups.
One of Dubai’s most unusual parks, you’ll find this magnificent location nestled deep in the desert! A magnificent running/walking pathway that circumnavigates the man-made Love Lakes is well worth the drive. Pack a picnic or utilise one of the approved BBQ areas. Enjoy the calm of this eco-spot while taking photos of the park’s many Instagrammable elements.
Beautifully groomed gardens meet the beachfront in the Jumeirah neighbourhood of Dubai, another recently built park. There are plenty of places to stop for a picnic, as well as BBQ grills and children’s playgrounds.
Nad al Sheba Cycle Park is a park dedicated to bikers and fitness lovers, located next to Meydan RaceCourse (a converted camel racing track!). This lush green area has 8km, 6km and 4km circuits perfect for beginners to pros. A track is also designed specifically for younger children to teach them about road safety.
One of the city’s oldest nature parks, Mushrif Park offers a very different experience from the usual well-maintained city parks. This park is famous for family gatherings and barbecues during the winter weekends. Many facilities are available, including bike paths, sports fields, camel and horse riding, a model house display village, a children’s activities area, playgrounds, restaurants, and even a miniature train service. Aventura Parks, a ziplining path through the Ghaf forest, and public swimming pools for men, women, and children are also available albeit for a fee.
This lovely new park in the city’s Al Khawaneej neighbourhood is dedicated to the Holy Quran. The 60-acre park is available to people of all faiths, but keep in mind that it is a family park, so you would want to dress appropriately. Inside, you’ll find the Lake, Orchards, and the Cave of Miracles, all of which include interactive displays (in Arabic) and a glasshouse displaying flora referenced in the Holy Quran. Inside, there are additional play areas and snack carts.
