USA is a dream destination for tourists from across the world. As this is a vast country, there are so many tourist attractions in USA making it nearly impossible to cover all the tourist attractions from the the east and west coasts, the southwest, Alaska, to the north and the nearby islands. So, it is best that you focus on a particular region and visit the nearby tourist sites to make the most of your trip. However, if you are on a long vacation, then you can traverse the length and breadth of the country and include the following places to visit in the USA in your travel itinerary.
Niagara Falls
The Niagara Falls, along the US-Canada border, is iconic. The waters from Lake Erie cascade down a high and vertical cliff into Lake Ontario. There are three sets of falls, namely the Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls. The volume of water flowing over the falls decreases in the winter. And, the Niagara Falls freezes over in cold weather, which looks breathtaking.

The Grand Canyon
One of the world’s most photographed natural attractions, the Grand Canyon was carved out by the Colorado River in Arizona and is rimmed by the very popular Grand Canyon National Park. A walkway with multiple viewing stations helps tourists get a closer look at the numerous ridges and cliffs and the floor of the canyon a mile below them. Tourists are advised to visit in peak summer because between November and May bitter winters restrict access to large sections of the National Park.
The Statue of Liberty
A beacon of hope to all and a symbol of the ‘inalienable right’ to freedom, the colossal Statue of Liberty, which was carved in the neoclassical style, was a gift to the Americans from the French. Today, it towers over the Liberty Island, New York Harbour. One of the most exciting things to do in the USA is taking a ferry to the statue to get an eagle’s nest view of New York City from the viewing stations at the pedestal or the crown.

The White House
All USA tour packages include a visit to the White House, which is quintessential to American history. It is the seat and residence of the President of America. All presidents except George Washington have dwelled here with their families. This neoclassical building was constructed twice, first in 1792 and then again in 1818 after the Imperialistic British torched it. The White House tours are free of charge but you should book a slot well in advance.
The Golden Gate Bridge
The Golden Gate Bridge has been made famous by postcards. It arches over the Golden Gate strait that links the Bay of San Francisco to the Pacific Ocean. On a clear day, the burnt orange colour of the suspension bridge contrasts beautifully with the intense blue of the skies and the water. And, when the bridge is sheathed in mist with the two triangular towers peeking out, it looks regal against the San Francisco skyline.

Mount Rushmore
Nothing can be more archetypal than Mount Rushmore. This is a National Memorial in South Dakota. The faces of four American Presidents, namely George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt, were carved out on a granite mountain face.

These tourist sites represent America’s history and culture and are the way to understand the soul of this great nation.
