Best bike motorcycle riding routes in Ladakh

A bike trip across Ladakh will prove to be one of the most precious journeys of your lifetime. You will end up with so many memorable moments that it will take more than one night to narrate them all at one go. The Himalayan terrain which stretches from Himachal Pradesh to Jammu & Kashmir, bordering Tibet Autonomous Region, will take you across sapphire lakes and rusty terrains which are home to one of the most diverse, beautiful, and the serene villages in North India.

To take you across the Tibetan monasteries, and Himalayan ranges Kuoni brings you Ladakh Tour Package. This blog post takes you through one of the best bike or motorcycle route that leads to Ladakh. The route will take you through Manali-Jispa-Pang-Leh-Pangong Lake-Sarchu-Manali.

Manali

Begin your expedition from Manali to Jispa through Rohtang Pass, located at a height of 3978 meters. The foggy weather and challenging roads will give you an idea of what you can expect ahead. Get enchanted by the Lahual hills. At Jispa, treat yourself with steamed momos and Thukpa(Himalayan soup).

Jispa

When you leave Jispa and head towards Pang, you will notice how the mountains get bigger as you reach the Greater Himalayan landscape. The view of Baralachha Pass leaves everyone speechless. The roads will take you through Sarchu, which is the border between the states of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu-Kashmir. You will know you have reached Pang when you witness an amalgamation of natural formations where the road disappears in sand at places.

Pang

Pang will take you across unending flatlands and mountainous terrains. Don’t forget to take that selfie at Tanglang-la Pass. This is the second highest motorable road in the world. The roads are well-maintained all the way to Leh. En route to Leh you will come across the monasteries of Thiksey and Shey. Don’t miss a chance to see and explore them. Take some time out in the evening to explore the culture in Ladakh.

Leh

Leh has a mixed population of Buddhist and Muslim communities. Leh is famous for its large masjid and Tibetan Gompa. The eating joints located in the central streets serve a wide variety of cuisines. Leh is best explored on foot. Spend the evening in the Old Fort which overlooks the city. Leh also has a number of garden restaurants, which are the perfect places to experience the magic of twilight in the Himalayan skies. Make sure you don’t miss out on spending evenings under the blanket of countless stars, which is best experienced through our Ladakh Tour Package.

Pangong Lake

This is the largest brakish water lake in Asia, where its 2/3rd portion lies in China. The area has number of Army checkposts and the region is serene and peaceful. Head back to Leh from Pangongl Lake and go shopping in the markets or visit the Shanti Stupa.

Sarchu-Manali

The next day head back to Sarchu from Leh. Riding through Baralaccha plains come home to Manali.

At the end of the journey, your Ladakh Tour Package will have taken you across some of the best Himalayan roads.
