The Perfect Travel Checklist for your Andaman Vacation

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands have long been a coveted destination because of its breath-taking beauty and unadulterated purity. Andaman tourism is an ever-growing commodity mainly because of the sheer beauty there is to witness. The island is relatively relaxed, and you can expect your holiday to follow suit with activities that are more calming than strenuous. There is no dearth of things to do in Andaman such as water sports like snorkelling, scuba diving, parasailing, banana boat riding, kayaking, jet skiing or even experiencing a glass bottom ride.

If all of the above has lured you into planning an Andaman tour packages, here are is a checklist that you should keep in mind:

Best time to visit: The Andaman is a tourist spot which is pretty much open for discovery and relaxation throughout the year. The place has two seasons summer and monsoon. The maximum number of tourists pour in between October to May. This is when the weather is perfect for exploration be it above or below the sea. Packing for your Andaman tour package is relatively simple. Here is a list of essential items you will need

Sun Protection: A waterproof sunscreen is essential as it can get hot and humid fast. You can also carry sunglasses and a cap for further protection.

Rain Protection: Carry a windcheater or an umbrella to protect yourself from the highly unpredictable weather.

Clothing and Footwear: Airy, light cotton clothes are highly recommended in the summer. Be sure to pack your swimwear because the holiday is centred around water. Andaman is not a party place, so ditch the high heels at home. Flip flops or chappals are the best type of footwear you can have.

Cash: It is best to carry cash when dealing with smaller local vendors. Bigger places accept the regular Master, Visa and Amex cards, however, ATM service on the island is dicey, at best.

Beach must-haves: Carry a quick drying towel so that you can dry off after a swim, and the towel is ready for next use soon. If you are going to be lazing on the beach in the afternoon, the sand can get hot. Also, you wouldn’t want to have sand sticking to your body all day long, so, carry a beach mat or hammock to relax on the beach.

Medication: Make sure to carry any medication you would require. Although pharmacies are there, you do not want to spend half your vacation searching for one.

Other: Insect repellent is a must. Oil-based repellents work well against mosquitos as well as sand insects. If you plan on exploring after dark, you would need a flashlight to avoid running into any creepy-crawlies. Carry a water bottle with you so you can stay hydrated at all times. The weather is hot and humid and can sometimes lead to sunstrokes, if not properly hydrated.
