An Aurora refers to the natural and flamboyant light display in the Earth’s sky. In the Arctic sky this spectacular display of colours is called the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights. In the Antartic sky this display is called the Aurora Australis or Southern Lights. Witnessing one of Nature’s eye-catching auroras is high on the wish-list of many travellers.

For them, Northern Norway is amongst the most comfortable and interesting places from which to view the Northern Lights. The best time to view this incredible natural phenomenon is between September and March. During these months when it is dark from early afternoon until late morning, the Aurora Borealis can turn a dark and cloudy night into a sky ablaze with green light in a matter of minutes – a spectacular transformation indeed!
