Travelling to Dubai requires one to apply for a visa. However, it is essential to know the different types of Dubai visas available before one can select the appropriate one. Following is the list of visas, Dubai offers to the visitors:
48-hour visa: This visa is for applicants who intend on staying in the UAE for less than 2 days. It is valid for 30 days from date of issue and is preferred by one who has come to Dubai for short business meetings or has a flight layover.
96-hour visa: This type of visa is for travellers who have business meetings or flight layovers and intent on staying in Dubai for less than 4 days. This visa is also valid for 30 days from date of issue.
Single-entry short-term visa (14 days): This short-term visa is valid for one who is visiting for Dubai tourism or leisure purposes for 2 weeks. This Dubai visa is valid for 2 months from date of issue and is non-convertible.
Single-entry short-term visa (30 days): This 30-day visa is also known as a tourist visa and is valid for 58 days from date of issue. The applicant can pay a fee and extend the visa twice for 30 days validity.
90-day visit visa: As the name suggests, this Dubai visa is valid for 90 days, and one must apply for this visa if one intends on spending a long time in the UAE for various reasons such as undergoing professional training workshops, visiting family and friends or even just going for a leisure trip. This visa is also valid for 58 days from date of issue and can be extended twice for 30 days each after paying a fee.
Multi-entry short-term visa (30 days): The multiple entries short-term visa has the same validity as the 90-day visit visa, except this is non-extendable. One must keep in mind that once this visa is utilised, it cannot be cancelled, and the applicant has to await its expiry.
Multi-entry long-term visa (90 days): One must apply for this Dubai visa if he/she wants to stay in Dubai for a longer duration and wants to make multiple visits. Based on the nature of this trip, one has to provide supporting documents. From the date of issue, this visa is valid for 58 days and can be extended twice for 30 days each after paying a fee.
The process to apply for a Dubai visa for Indians: One can apply for a Dubai visa online as well as visit the nearest visa office along with the list of documents and the filled and signed application form. One must note that incomplete applications aren’t accepted. When one applies for a Dubai visa for Indian citizens, one can visit any of the visa application centres located in cities like Pune, Delhi, Mumbai, Cochin, Chennai and Bangalore.
After applying, one can get updates based on the verified ID or phone number provided on the Dubai visa form. Similarly, one receives an interview date and time which he/she attends while carrying all the documents. Once the interview is over, and the applicant pays the visa fees, he/she must wait for the visa to get processed.
Documents required: The list of necessary documents changes based on the type of Dubai visa application and one’s nationality. Some of the standard documents required include downloaded and filled application form, a passport with 6 months validity, recent photographs as per specifications, proof of residence, recent bank statements and a cover letter stating the visiting purpose along with the itinerary.
