Upon entering the United Kingdom you can exchange your home currency with pound sterling at the Post Office, as well as various international airports and major train stations. If you are using credit cards Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted at various restaurants, pubs, bars and shops. Avoid using American Express and Diners Club cards as they are not really popular and accepted across the United Kingdom.

Most establishments will have the sign of the cards they accept, but when you are on your UK trip make sure that you confirm with the establishment if they accept the credit card or ATM card that you have to avoid any further issues.
