Places to visit in Florence

Some of the best tourist attractions in Florence are churches and cathedrals. But the sea is an inseparable part of a Florence holiday. SOTC’s Florence holiday packages are designed to cover all the aspects of this vibrant historical town. Here are some recommendations to get you started on your vacation.

Uffizi Palace and Gallery

One of the top art museums in the world, the Uffizi Palace and Gallery is a meticulous chronicle of art’s journey in Italy through the ages. It is the foremost artistic hub in Europe. It will make a fine addition to your Florence trip package. Here, the variety is staggering, and the art is simply mesmerising.

Piazza della Signoria

Piazza della Signoria is the centre of power in Florence. The Neptune Fountain and Loggia dei Lanzi, are the two big highlights of this 14th-century square. Take in the sights and spend a leisurely evening here. A visit here is a highly recommended addition to your Florence travel package.

Galleria dell’Accademia

Home to one of Michelangelo’s greatest masterpieces, the Galleria dell’Accademia is one of the most-visited tourist attractions in Florence. You will find many more grandmasters adorning the walls and dotting the gallery. Take a guided tour of the gallery for a better understanding of the artwork.

Ponte Vecchio

The Ponte Vecchio is one of the greatest icons of Florence’s cultural heritage. It has been housing the city’s goldsmiths over centuries. While the shops alone are worth a visit, the main attraction is the enclosed passage that passes over the shops connecting the Pitti Palace with Palazzo Vecchio.

Boboli Gardens

Boboli Gardens is the greenest part of the Pitti Palace complex. Created at a great cost, it is among the most stunning gardens in Europe. The terraced garden offers sweeping panoramas of the city. But its real highlight are its maze and the fountains and the statures that dot the park.

The best time to visit Florence

Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the best times to visit Florence. Spring temperatures hover between 5°C to 24°C and autumn averages between 5°C to 27°C. Summers are much warmer but also most crowded. Winters are chilly but not freezing cold. November is the wettest month of the year.
