Places to visit in Innsbruck

Located in Austria, one of the most beautiful countries in Europe, you’ll fall in love with Innsbruck and its old-world charm. From its lovingly preserved Old Town to the Tyrolean State Museums, SOTC’s Innsbruck holiday packages include some of the most popular places to visit.

Innsbruck Old Town
Innsbruck’s Old Town is the most charming part of your Innsbruck travel package. Some of the buildings here are more than 500 years old, which makes this an important part of the city’s history. Enjoy a leisurely stroll and a cup of coffee at one of the old cafes.

Ambras Castle
The home of Archduke Ferdinand II is an imposing structure that offers a commanding view of the surroundings. The Lower Castle displays an impressive array of weapons and armoury, while the Upper Castle is dedicated to Tyrolaean art. Add this to your Innsbruck trip package for its sheer magnificence.

Swarovski Crystal Worlds
The Swarovski Crystal World is a popular tourist destination of the city. The giant head waterfall that adorns the entrance is perhaps one of the most iconic sights of Innsbruck. Once inside, you enter a fascinating world of crystalline sparkle that will dazzle you with its brilliance.

Tyrol Panorama Museum
One of the most unique places in your Innsbruck tour package, the Tyrol Panorama Museum is a visual treat. It is home to a humungous 1000-metre-long painting depicting the 1809 Tyrol victory over Bavarian and Saxon troops. This is a must-visit Innsbruck attraction.

Glockengiesserei Grausamer
This is your chance to witness something so unique that you just have to add it to your Innsbruck travel package. Glockengiesserei Grassmayr is a bell foundry that has been making bells for over 400 years. Their museum and sound studio make for an amazingly interactive experience.

The best time to visit Innsbruck

Summer and winter are the best times to visit Innsbruck and experience all that it has to offer. While the winter temperatures average in the subzero range, it also offers some of the best skiing in Europe. Summer is a great time for sightseeing. The temperatures range between 11°C to 21°C and the sun sets at around 9:00 pm, giving you more daylight to explore Innsbruck.

How to reach Innsbruck

Flying is the only way to reach Innsbruck from India. The city’s Kranebitten Airport is the largest airport in Austria which enjoys excellent connectivity with other European cities with regular flights. However, there are no direct flights from India to Innsbruck and there is at least one changeover in between. If you’re in Europe, you can take a train from any major European city. Alternatively, you can also hop on to a bus to rent a car.
