The Dukh Bhanjani Ber tree is over 400 years old! This jujube tree is believed to have blessed the water of Amrit Sarovar with curative powers. Old stories speak of the legend of Bibi Rajni whose faith in God was rewarded when her husband was cured of leprosy after a dip in the pond near the tree. This very pond was later made into the Amrit Sarovar.
The Dukh Bhanjani tree is an important part of Amritsar’s folklore. Though people can take a dip in the water by the tree, they are forbidden to pluck fruits. But, if you’re lucky, you may find a fallen fruit.
