Considered amongst the finest examples of the Early English Gothic Architecture, the Westminster Abbey flaunts a gorgeous blend of design. The Abbey still works as a place of worship and is home to the tombstones of Britain’s greatest, including 17 monarchs. Even though the Abbey was founded in 960 AD, a greater part of its architectural influence is from the 13th century. Behind the High Altar lies the shrine of St. Edward the Confessor and is deemed to be the most hallowed place in the entire Abbey. There are guided but restricted tours to this corner since the 13th century flooring has grown to be quite fragile.
