There are so many picturesque places to visit while on your Ladakh tour. Though you may not be able to get to all of them, here are some places where you should definitely make a stop at
- Pangong Tso Lake: Other than being the ‘famous’ lake in the movie 3 Idiots, Pangong Tso lake is also said to be the highest salt lake and is situated 14270 feet above sea level. On a clear day, you can see the snow-tipped peaks of the mountains creating the perfect background.
- Magnetic Hill: Want to see your car move uphill without the engine on? Well, park it on the magnetic hill and see ‘magic’ happen.
- Leh Palace: This former royal palace gives you a view of the Stok Kangri and Zanskar mountain ranges. While the palace may have lost its original charm, the sculptures and carvings still hold the history of the time gone by. You can visit the museum which has a collection of the royal crowns and jewels on display.
- Shanti Stupa: Built by Japanese and Ladhaki Buddhist, the white dome shaped stupa gives you a panoramic view of the city of Leh. The stupa has ancient Buddhist relics that depict the stages of Buddha’s lives.
- Lamayuru Monastery: This is one of the oldest and largest monastery in Ladakh and houses about 150 monks.
- Zanskar Valley: The Zanskar mountain ranges and the Himalayas will be your constant companion throughout your Ladakh tour package. However, a stroll on the foothills of the valley is a must do while you are here. This is also where the cold waters of Zanskar River and the warm stream of the Indus River meet, forming the Sangam point.
- Khardungla Pass: If you are on Ladakh trip, a stop at the world’s highest motorable road, the Khardungla Pass is a must, where thousands of Tibetan prayer flags dance to the sound of the wind.
