Wat Arun Ratchavaram Temple of Dawn

Located in the Bangkok Yai district, on the west bank of Chao Phraya River, this is easily one of the most stunning Bangkok tourist places listed in our guide. This Buddhist temple of dawn, with its colourful and stunning 70-metre spire, is at its best during sunrise or sunset. The spire is built from small chips of coloured glass and Chinese porcelain. Temple of the Emerald Buddha

This temple, also known as Wat Phra Kaew, is an iconic Buddhist temple in Thailand. Located in the heart of the city, this temple boasts of the Phra Kaew Morakot (the emerald Buddha) – a gorgeous statue carved from a single block of jade. Interestingly, no one is allowed near the statue except the King, who changes the robes of the statue thrice a year – corresponding to the summer, winter and rainy seasons.

Wat Traimit Withayaram Worawihan

Of all the Bangkok places to visit, none will make your jaw drop like the Temple of the Golden Buddha. Inside this stunning white and gold temple lies an almost 3-metre high, 700-year-old gold Buddha (the largest solid gold Buddha image in the world). On the first floor of the building you can spend some time on a tour of the Chinatown museum and on the second floor you can learn about the history of the Golden Buddha.

Lumphini Park

Immerse yourself in the green and serene beauty of Lumphini Park, located in central Bangkok. The park sprawls over 500,000 sq. m. Spend the day indulging in some fun activities at the park, like paddleboating, working out at an outdoor gym, cycling, taking a free aerobics session, or playing basketball. Local jazz bands often perform on late Sunday afternoons. A local hotspot for residents, a visit to the park is certainly a quintessential Bangkok thing to do during your trip.

Bangkok National Museum

Incredible art and artefacts await you at the Bangkok National Museum. Founded by King Rama V, the museum is located in the Wang Na Palace. The museum is filled with precious relics of the past, including precious stones, Chinese weapons, textiles, Khon masks and traditional musical instruments.

Bangkok Art & Cultural Centre

Democracy Monument

Commission in 1939 to commemorate the Siamese Revolution of 1932, the centrepiece of the monument is a carved palm-leaf manuscript box, containing the Thai Constitution of 1932. Four massive wing-like structures guard the centrepiece.

National Museum of Royal Barges

Prepare to be stunned by the sight of 8 massive, unique and stunning barges at the Royal Barges Museum. These boats, used for auspicious occasions and state ceremonies, have only been used 16 times in 65 years. Each barge is built from teak, intricately carved, gilded in gold and decorated with shimmering chips of glass.

Benchasiri Park

Looking to spend some quality time with your family? Then Benchasiri Park is one of the best places to visit in Bangkok for that purpose. Highlights of the park include fountain shows, a large lake filled with turtles and fish, a playground, a skateboarding arena and a huge outdoor swimming pool. Bangkok City Pillar

According to legend, a city pillar was built when a new city was established. King Rama I built the Bangkok city pillar built near the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. During the reign of Rama IV, the old pillar was replaced by a new one made from cassia wood and is sheltered by a shrine. Tourists and locals visit the shrine to pay respects for prosperity and luck.

King Rama IX Park

Chao Phraya River
