China Visa
The Visa Authority of the People’s Republic grants the China visa which is a permit following the regulations and laws that lets a foreign citizen enter, exit or transit through Chinese territory. According to the status of the foreign citizen, his purpose of visit and the type of passport he holds, a Diplomatic, Courtesy, Service, or an ordinary visa is issued to him. The China visa fees are dependent on the type of visa issued so get the complete China currency and visa information before you apply for one.
Types of Chinese visa
The purpose of the visit determines the China visa types or the visa category to apply for.
- Visa category F is for study tourism, visits and to attend exchange programs
- Visa category M is issued for doing trade or commercial activities in China
- Visa category L is the tourist visa issued to those who want to visit China for a holiday
- Q1 visa is issued to those who are visiting China for a family reunion or visiting relatives who are permanent residents in China
- S1 visa is for those visiting relatives who are studying and working in China
- Z category visa is for employment and for those visiting China for commercial purposes
- The G category visa is a transit visa given to those who are transiting through China to visit a third country
- X1 category visa is for those who wish to study in China for more than 180 days
- X2 visa is for those who wish to study in China for not more than 180 days
- The D category visa is for those who wish to stay in China permanently
- R category visa is for those who have some high level of talent or have skills that are required in China urgently
- J1 visa and J2 visa is for journalists who are foreign nationalists and are in China
Documents required for China visa
The following China visa documents need to be submitted to start the China visa process and to get a tourist visa to enter China.
- Proof of return air tickets, hotel reservation or invitation issued by an individual in China. The China visa documents should have a detailed itinerary of the China visit. If the applicant is going on an invitation, then the invitation letter should have personal information about the invitee like his or her full name, date of birth, gender, etc.
- A personal written statement or the cover letter is one of the China visa requirements which should be attached. It should state the name, places of visit, contact number of the visiting persons details and address
- Certification letter from the company where the applicant works should be submitted. It should mention the contact number of the company, the name of the company and the income statement of the applicant
- Original copy of 6 months bank statement of the applicant
- If the applicant has applied for China visa before then the reason for a revisit, the places that the applicant plans to visit and the places that he has visited before should be stated
- Apart from the above-mentioned documents the Chinese Embassy or the Consulate General may ask for additional documents if need be to start the China visa procedure. If the applicant is traveling to China in a group then a letter issued by the travel agency is needed
China visa fees
The Chinese visa centre will accept China visa fees payment in cash or demand draft.
- Single entry China visa fees for Indian citizens are INR 3900
- Double-entry China visa fees for Indian citizens are INR 5850
- Multiple entries China visa fees for 6 months for Indian national is INR 7800
- Multiple entries visa for 1 year is INR 11700
- Group visa charges for China for Indian citizens are INR 2400
- There is an extra fee for collection the next day which is INR 1800
- The application service fees for regular service which is 4 working days is INR 1652 including GST
- Express service for collection the next working day is INR 2478
- Postal service for normal service is INR 2478
- The Premium lounge's optional service is INR 2478
To avail the express service which is the next day collection the application needs to be submitted before 11 in the morning and picked up post 3 pm on the next working day. Get all the China visa information on the official site.

China visa centres in India
The ordinary passport holders need to go to the "Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in Kolkata (CVASC)" for their visa application and to start their China visa process. This is for those residing in Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa or West Bengal. Applicants filing their Chinese visa application from Karnataka or Maharashtra need to visit the Chinese Consulate General in Mumbai. Applicants from the remaining states need to go to the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi to submit their application.
The visa fees are collected on behalf of the Chinese Embassy for the China visa procedure. The centre charges the application service fees which are not refundable. The applicant needs to pay the total fees which are the application service fee and the visa fees. This needs to be paid in cash.
