You can count black risotto among the best Croatian food especially along the coastline. This flavourful dish is made using cuttlefish or squid, garlic, red wine, olive oil and squid ink and is well-loved along the coastline.

Most places to eat in Croatia will serve Peka, a dish of meat and vegetables which is often cooked under a terracotta or iron lid while burning embers are placed on top. The choice of meat can be octopus, veal, chicken or lamb.

Some Croatian restaurants also serve brudet, a tomato-based stew that is often cooked over an open fire.
