This is indeed a scenic route to take because you’ll have the chance to sail on clear waters. However, there are no direct ferries from Phuket to Krabi. You can reach Krabi via Phi Phi island, however. This trip takes you from Phuket to Phi Phi Island where you would have to change a boat and then head on to Krabi from there. If you prefer, you can also charter a private speedboat to take you from Phuket to Krabi directly. The journey lasts around 3 hours. It’s always best to take recommendations from the locals at either the airport or at your hotel regarding the best time to take the ferry or chartering a speedboat, if that maybe the case.
Krabi airport is located just fifteen minutes away from Krabi town. There are direct flights available from Bangkok but it’s a good idea to check ahead in case there are any changes to schedules. You can also fly to Phuket from Bangkok and then drive to Krabi from there.
There are several buses that can take you from Bangkok to Krabi. Tickets to Krabi can be purchased at the southern bus terminal in Pen Klao, Bangkok. The journey from Bangkok to Krabi takes 13 hours. You can also travel from Phuket to Krabi by bus which usually takes around 4 hours. Another alternative is to travel from Suratthani to Krabi by bus or van. The time to reach Krabi from Suratthani is 4 hours.
There are no direct trains from Bangkok to Krabi. However, you can choose to take a train from Bangkok’s Hualomphong Station to Trang, Tung Song or Suratthani, and then take a bus from there to Krabi. A good recommendation would be to travel overnight by train from Bangkok to Suratthani. The journey lasts 12 hours. No matter how you plan to reach Krabi, your journey will be unforgettable.
