Pushkar doesn’t have an airport of its own and the closest one is 140 kilometres away, in Jaipur. Having said that, it is one of the most well-connected airports in Rajasthan, with flights from all the major cities like New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai. Once you land, it’s easy to hire a taxi for the remainder of your journey, a scenic three-hour drive across the heart of the desert state.
If you want to drive down yourself, it’s probably best to do from nearby locations like Delhi or Jaipur, where the distance and time involved is not too much. While you could also take a hired cab for more convenience. The only other way you can come by road is taking the bus, with regular departures from places like Ajmer, Jaipur, Jodhpur and other intra-state routes. You could also take out-of-state buses but be ready for a long journey.
There’s one more way as to how to reach Pushkar and that’s by train to Ajmer and then a half an hour drive to the town itself. The railway station at Ajmer is connected to all big cities across India, from Allahabad to Bangalore. The most popular trains to take are the Ajmer Shatabdi and Ajmer Rajdhani.
