Festivals and Events in Shillong

Shillong, the beautiful capital of Meghalaya has long been considered the Scotland of the East for its marvellous views, waterfalls, lakes and several other gorgeous natural wonders. However, you’ll be surprised at how much enthusiasm goes into Shillong festivals if you happen to visit during any such event. Shillong during any other time is charming on its own but during these events, it transcends that and becomes an amazing experience.

Many of these Shillong events have cultural and religious significance although some like the Shillong Autumn Festival are seasonal too. If you happen to visit Shillong during October or November, you’ll be amazed to see the numerous tourists flocking in to attend the Autumn Festival. This is a government-organised event and is a cultural extravaganza for visitors and locals alike. There’s a fashion show, along with a food and wine festival and flower shows.
